S. Korean media giants to launch video streaming service to rival Netflix

South Korea's media giants are joining forces to launch an online video streaming service that they hope could rival Netflix.
Earlier this week, broadcasters SBS, MBC and KBC signed an agreement with SK Telecom to merge their "POOQ" streaming service with SK's Oksusu ,... to form a brand new platform.
This comes amid concerns local content providers are seeing their share of the platform market dwindle due to the increased popularity of YouTube and Netflix in Korea.
The service will create and provide original video content, which will be customized to each subscriber's preferences.
It also aims to promote Korean pop culture overseas,... once the service expands to Southeast Asia later this year.
