South Korea's National Security Council believes 2019 will be critical to solving the denuclearization issue and establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Chaired by National Security Adviser Chung Eui-yong, the members reviewed the security situation in the region and said that Seoul needs to take the lead this year in improving relations between the Koreas and the U.S.
On the dispute between Seoul and Tokyo over a Japanese patrol plane's recent low-altitude flight over a Korean naval ship,... the NSC vowed to take steps, if needed,... against what could be a serious violation of safety protocols or -- even a threat from the Japanese plane.
