Busan celebrates new year with music, bell-ringing and fireworks

Now we shift to the southeastern-most part of Korea,... the port of Busan,... which is the country's second-most populous city.
We go to our Choi Si-young, coming on the air via smartphone.
Si-young how are the people readying themselves to ring in the brand new year?

Well Semin/Devin, right now,... with some music.
Behind me is an orchestra playing live in front of a large audience.

Shortly after the concert, at the zero hour, a group of 24 bell-ringers from all walks of life -- students, workers, you name it -- will strike the bell 33 times in a Buddhist tradition.
People I've spoken to say that they came here to share the last moment with beloved ones.
Some say they came all the way from Seoul just to feel a different vibe here in Busan.
From young to old, the place is now fully packed and ready to see the bell-ringing.
At the end, people here are going to sing the "song of Busan," the city's anthem.

That's all for now, but I will keep you updated with the latest. Back to you Semin/Devin.
