S. Korea and U.S. to conduct scaled-down joint field training exercise next year

Annual joint military exercise with the U.S. will be scaled down from next year.
Defense chief Jeong Kyeong-doo told reporters,... the allies' annual springtime Foal Eagle military drills, a major field training exercise, is expected to be reduced to battalion or smaller unit level.
But the nation's biannual joint command post drills with Washington,... conducted once every six months,... will still take place,... although the names Key Resolve and Freedom Guardian could be changed.
Meanwhile,... the two sides will conduct their first verification exercise on Seoul's operational capability to lead command control,... as part of preparing for the transfer of wartime operational control to Seoul,... during their joint military exercise in August.
