There have been reports in recent weeks that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un would visit Russia before the end of the year, but the South Korean Ambassador to Moscow now says it's not likely to happen.
Ambassador Woo Yoon-keun , met with reporters on Thursday and said the Russians had initially hoped to have Kim at the Kremlin sometime late this year for a meeting with President Putin.
Moscow's foreign minister Sergey Lavrov had invited Kim during his visit to Pyeongyang in May.
Though there could be many reasons for the delay, Woo said, it's likely because Kim has a lot on his plate at the moment, including his planned visit to Seoul.
And with several other diplomatic events lined up for next year, including the second North Korea-U.S. summit, the admbassador said it's hard to project when Kim will go to Moscow.
