It's the second day of the National Assembly's annual audit of the government.
The legislature's standing commmittees are inspecting government bodies in their respective areas.
On the foreign affairs and unification committee,... rival parties continue to clash over the possibility of Seoul lifting its sanctions on North Korea.
The ruling party said that if that's the plan, then the government needs to be able to persuade the international community that such a step is needed,... while the opposition argued that Seoul needs to carefully coordinate with the U.S. on such matters,... especially given that President Trump has said that South Korea will not lift sanctions without Washington's approval.
On the labor committee,... the parties argued about the government's minimum wage hike.
The opposition bloc claimed that the government's policies have caused a crisis in the job market,... with data showing sluggish growth,... while the ruling party said structural issues are to blame.
And on the industry committee,... a hotly contested issue was the government's drive for nuclear-free energy.
The ruling party said that it's in line with the global trend,... while the opposition raised concerns that it could lead to a surge in electricity costs.
