S&P gives South Korea global credit rating of AA

Standard & Poor's has left South Korea's global credit rating unchanged, thanks to the decreasing geopolitical tension on the peninsula.
Seoul has maintained its stable AA rating for two years in a row.
It's the third highest global credit rating on S&P's 21-point scale.
S&P's stable outlook for South Korea reflects its expectation that geopolitical risks on the Peninsula will not escalate over the next two years beyond what's been witnessed since the leadership change in North Korea in 2011.
Yet, S&P's institutional assessment of South Korea continues to be constrained by the potential external security threats from the North.
The agency adds, this could change if Pyeongyang unexpectedly pursues significant economic liberalization.
