Powerful storms hit northern Philippines, south China and southeastern U.S.

At least 12 people have died in the northern Philippines due to Typhoon Mangkhut , which has caused landslides and pummeled homes there.
Authorities say the death toll could climb to 16 once other casualty reports are verified.
Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from high-risk areas... and have been advised not to return home for a while.
China is also bracing for the storm, which is expected to hit the area on Sunday.
In the U.S., Hurricane Florence has left at least 11 people dead and about a million without power on its east coast.
The storm continues to dump tremendous amounts of rain on North and South Carolina after it moved inland on Saturday.
Damage estimates are in the tens of billions of U.S. dollars.
