Trump to place new tariffs on nearly US$ 200 bil. of Chinese goods: Bloomberg
  • 6 years ago
Despite his Treasury Secretary's attempts to revive trade talks with China, U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly told his aides to press ahead with a new round of tariffs on an extra 200 billion U.S. dollars in Chinese products.
Citing sources familiar with the matter,.. Bloomberg reports that President Trump has told his top trade advisors that he "wasn't concerned" about their impact on negotiations with China.
With the public comment period for the new round of tariffs expiring last week, President Trump said the duties will be imposed soon.
The White House has not commented on the Bloomberg report.
This comes as the U.S. already placed a 25 percent duty on 50 billion dollars of Chinese imports.
