Putin arrives at Vostok-2018 military exercises

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at Russia's largest-ever military exercises, the Vostok-2018, taking place in the Trans-Baikal Region on Thursday.

The drills are being held from 11 to 17 September, in the Far East of Russia. Around 300,000 troops, 1,000 aircraft, 36,000 armoured vehicles and 80 vessels are to take part in the war games, according to the Ministry of Defence. They will be joined by around 3,500 personnel from the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).
