Obama mulled preemptive strike on North Korea, following 2016 nuclear test: Woodward
  • 6 years ago
Now to some striking revelations from Bob Woodward's new book "Fear: Trump in the White House"... but these relate to President Trump's predecessor... Barack Obama.
Woodward writes that the former president considered a possible preemptive strike on North Korea following its fifth nuclear test in 2016.
According to the author,... Obama decided the time had come to consider whether the North's nuclear threat could be eliminated in a surgical military strike,... as the regime claimed it could mount new nuclear bomb on its ballistic missiles.
The book also claims President Trump put pressure on the South Korean government earlier this year by calling for the need to withdraw from their bilateral trade deal as well as insisting Seoul to pay the expenses for the THAAD anti-missile system.
