정의용 실장의 방북 결과 발표... "9월 18일~20일 남북정상회담 개최"

So after weeks of speculation, the date for the next inter-Korean has been set. On September 18th President Moon Jae-in will be meeting with Kim Jong-un for the third time, this time in Pyongyang. This was of course revealed by Chung Eui-yong, South Korea's special envoy who returned from Pyongyang on Wednesday. He gave a press briefing earlier today, let's now take a look back at some of the key points from that briefing:

"First, the South and North agreed to hold the inter-Korean summit from September 18th to September 20th in Pyongyang for two days and three nights. Also, to prepare for the summit, it was agreed that there would be high-level talks on the protocol, security, communication and media at Panmunjom early next week.

Second, Chairman Kim Jong-un reaffirmed his strong intentions for the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and expressed his will to closely cooperate with the United States as well as South Korea.

Third, there were agreements on continuing ongoing talks between the two Koreas to reduce military tensions, as well as specific ways to build trust and prevent clashes.

Fourth, the South and North agreed to open the joint Korean liaison office, where officials from both sides will work, before the summit takes place, and agreed to work on necessary areas of cooperation."
