Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur is bracing for floods as the Ganga has swelled to danger levels and met officials have forecast heavy rainfall. Villagers living in makeshift camps after a flood warning was issued by the Management Information System Centre. Crops on the city’s outskirts are damaged because of rising water levels, say villagers. Four villages have been cut off from the mainstream and water has reportedly entered houses.
