Kerala Floods: RAF blocks flood water from entering paddy fields
  • 6 years ago
Rapid Action Force (RAF) built a temporary bridge in Palakkad's Erumachery to block flood water from entering paddy fields. Kerala has been facing the worst flooding in a century. Around 357 people have died in Kerala floods. Rescue operations by Indian Army, Navy, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and India Coast Guard are underway.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday predicted that Kerala will not experience heavy rains for the next 5 days. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said much of the rescue operation was likely to be completed by end of Sunday, but “it will continue till the last person is rescued.” The CM added that there were 13 new deaths and some 22,000 people rescued since morning. At Chengannur in Alapuzha district, at least 5,000 are stranded, according to revenue officials quoted by PTI.
