'A Goddamn Hoax': Trump 'Lost His Cool' During Mock Mueller Interview, Woodward Book Claims

Bob Woodward's new book shares details of a mock interview President Trump had concerning the Russia probe.

Famed journalist Bob Woodward says in his upcoming book, 'Fear: Trump in the White House,' that President Trump was unable to hold it together during a mock Mueller-related interview.  The Washington Post, which published a synopsis of and excerpts from the book, reports that the practice interrogation was conducted in late January by Trump's former personal attorney John Dowd. "In the White House residence, Dowd peppered Trump with questions about the Russia investigation, provoking stumbles, contradictions and lies until the president eventually lost his cool," journalists Philip Rucker and Robert Costa write. They continue, "'This thing's a goddamn hoax,' Trump erupted at the start of a 30-minute rant that finished with him saying, 'I don't really want to testify.'"  Trump has made his frustration with special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Russia's involvement in the 2016 election quite clear. "There is No Collusion! The Robert Mueller Rigged Witch Hunt, headed now by 17 (increased from 13, including an Obama White House lawyer) Angry Democrats, was started by a fraudulent Dossier, paid for by Crooked Hillary and the DNC," Trump wrote in July. "Therefore, the Witch Hunt is an illegal Scam!" "The Mueller probe should never have been started in that there was no collusion and there was no crime," the president also tweeted. "It was based on fraudulent activities and a Fake Dossier paid for by Crooked Hillary and the DNC, and improperly used in FISA COURT for surveillance of my campaign. WITCH HUNT!"
