This was the moment three men saw a woman being swept away by a flooded river in India and jumped in to rescue her.

They swam against the strong current to grab and bring her back to the bank safely.

The incident occurred near a village in Baragarh district in Odisha, India, on August 16.

A group of men from Raisalpadar village saw the woman drowning in the local river Anga around 10 pm.

Two of them, Jagannath Kalasi and Biswamitra Sahu, jumped into water and swam for nearly 500 metres risking their lives to save her.

Seeing that his friends were getting tired, a third man, Hemananda Sahu, also jumped into the water to lend a hand.

The woman was later moved to a government hospital for treatment. Doctors said she was in shock but out of danger.

Eyewitnesses said the woman had slipped while bathing in the river and had been carried away by the strong current.
