President Moon named Lee In-lam... as the head of the Presidential Council on finding the Truth about Suspicious Deaths in the Military.
The former military judge, will lead the operations for three years, starting September 14th.
His new position is equivalent to that of a general in the Korean military.
Lee also worked as a lawyer and was the vice chairman of the Truth and Reconciliation Committee of the Defense ministry.
He also served as the Vice Chair of Minbyun Lawyers for a Democratic Society.
The new government commission was created under a special law in March that calls for a fact-finding mission into suspicious deaths in the military, dating as far back as 1948.
