Beijing will further open its financial market to foreign investors to boost its sluggish stock market.
The China Securities Regulatory Commission plans to allow foreigners working in mainland to establish accounts to directly trade the country’s blue-chip A-shares from September.
Until now, the authortiies only permitted permanent residents and a few other select groups to trade A-shares directly, with foreign investors having to use cross-boundary channels such as Shanghai-Hong Kong or Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect.
