Florida Man Who Used 'Stand Your Ground' Charged With Manslaughter Michael Drejka, 47, shot and killed Markeis McGlockton, 28, after McGlockton shoved him during a disturbance at a Clearwater, FL, convenience store. Drejka was invloved in a heated exchange with McGlockton's girlfriend, Britney Jacobs, because she had parked in a handicapped parking space. McGlockton witnessed the argument as he was exiting the store and
shoved Drejka. Drejka fell to the ground, pulled out his concealed carry handgun and shot McGlockton in the chest. McGlockton died en route to the hospital. The violence is considered to be racially charged as Drejak is white and the man he murdered, McGlockton, was black. Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri According to CNN, "stand your ground" laws allow people to respond to threats or force without fear of criminal prosecution. After a nine-day review of the evidence, Drejka was arrested and is currently being held in Pinellas County Jail on $100,000 bail. Family of Marquis McGlockton, via CNN
