Tokyo medical school apologizes for fixing results to exclude women
  • 6 years ago
A prestigious Japanese medical school is in hot water for deliberately marking down entrance exam scores of female applicants to limit the number of women studying at the school.
The malpractice at Tokyo Medical University had reportedly been going on for decades in order to accept more men.
The college initially denied knowledge of any wrongdoing,... but later apologized.
School officials said,.... they would consider retroactively admitting those who were rejected as a result of test altering,.... but failed to explain how they would do so.
Reports suggest that this was not an isolated incident,.... with investigations finding that sons of wealthy families had their test scores boosted.... after their parents made large donations to the school.
