폼페이오 "리용호, 비핵화 이행 약속 분명히 했다"... 김재천 교수 대담

To help us break down these latest developments we have Professor Kim Jae-chun from Sogang University here with us today. Thank you for coming on the show.

My pleasure.

1 - Pompeo told reporters that North Korea's foreign minister Ri Yong-ho reiterated the regime's commitment to denuclearize when they met in Singapore. But at the same place, Ri issued a statement warning that North Korea will not act first unless the U.S. shows it is taking further actions to build trust. What do you make of these two statements and who should be listened to?

2 - The report just now also mentions a possible second summit between Kim and Trump before the end of the year. We don't know the source of those comments, but do you think it could happen?

3 - It has also been announced that the United Nations has adopted new guidelines to allow humanitarian aid into North Korea. What's especially interesting is it that it has come following a proposal by the U.S. On the one hand the U.S. promotes pressure and sanctions, and then the other it now offers aid. 6 - Despite the return of the remains, there has not been much progress on denuclearization talks or the declaration on formally ending the Korean War. Do you think you think the U.S. is frustrated at the lack of progress being made?

7 - Nuclear envoys from South Korea and China met in Beijing on Monday, and they are said to have discussed the formal declaration ending the Korean War. It seems China is getting more and more involved in the process?

8 - The Trump administration has now reimposed some sanctions on Iran. That's within 90 days of pulling out of the JCPOA. What message do you think this sends to North Korea?

8a - There are many who have compared the Iran situation to North Korea, but how different are the two cases?

9 - The sanctions on Iran come at a particularly interesting time as North Korea's foreign minister, Ri Yong-ho is said to have travelled to Iran right after he finished his schedule at the ASEAN Regional Forum in Singapore. What do you think was the purpose of his trip.

10 - The South Korean government has revealed that it is investigating 9 ships that came into South Korean ports that are thought to have been carrying illegal North Korean coal. How concerning is this, especially when it comes to South Korea's st
