Officials Attempt to Rescue People From Collapsed Mosque After Lombok Earthquake

Rescue efforts were underway on August 6 at a mosque in Lombok, Indonesia, where people were believed to be trapped after a magnitude 6.9 earthquake, according to a local Indonesia paper.The earthquake killed at least 98 people, though the National Disaster Mitigation Agency said that it expected that number to rise once officials clear the rubble from more then 13,000 damaged houses.More than 2,000 tourists were also evacuated from the Gili Islands, according to news reports.The earthquake sparked a tsunami warning which was later cancelled, the Jakarta Post reported. The earthquake also impacted the neighboring island of Bali with minor damage reported at Ngurah Rai International Airport.The number of victims from the mosque collapse was unknown.This video shows officials using heavy equipment to rescue people trapped under the mosque.
