Deadly Earthquake Rocks East Lombok, Indonesia

A magnitude 6.4 earthquake on the Indonesian island of Lombok just before 7 am on Sunday, July 29, left at least three people dead and two injured, according to a spokesperson for Indonesia’s national disaster management agency (BNPB).Dozens of damaged buildings and 43 aftershocks were recorded at the time of writing.BNPB said the earthquake “felt very strong for around 10 seconds,” and caused panic to residents who ran from their homes. They confirmed the earthquake does not have the potential to cause a tsunami.Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, with BNPB, told Storyful the death toll was expected to rise.
