Now known as one of the most devastating fires in California history, the Carr fire has destroyed over 1,000 homes and damaged more than 200, local media reported on August 2.

This video filmed by Mike Daly in the Lake Redding Park area shows houses reduced to rubble and fenced off by security tape.

More than 4,000 firefighters have been involved in battling the Carr Fire, which has killed six people, including two firefighters. Blistering heat and shifting winds are fueling the blaze.

So far, the fire has burned an area four times the size of San Francisco. As of Thursday night, it was 35% contained.
