Firefighters tackle new 800-acre blaze northeast of Carr Fire

A new fire sparked in Shasta County on August 9, prompting evacuation orders for residents in the area as the flames drew closer.

The blaze, dubbed the Hat Fire, burned in the Fall River Mills area, just northeast of Whiskeytown where the Carr Fire, scorched more than 150,000 acres and left seven dead.

According to local media, the fire was spotted after 2:30 p.m. near Highway 299 and Fish Hatchery Road. At the time of writing, the fire was 0% contained.
