National Guard Helps Tackle Carr Fire in California

The Carr Fire in California’s Shasta County had consumed over 112,000 acres and stood at 30 percent contained late on July 31, having destroyed nearly 1,000 homes.Cal Fire said shifting winds, steep terrain and previously unburned fuels contributed to the fire, which broke out on July 23.California’s National Guard has worked with Cal Fire to monitor the growth and direction of the fire, which has killed six people.This footage, posted by the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service, shows aerial footage of two flame-retardant drops by the California National Guard near Redding on July 31.
