‘Say a prayer for Redding’: Filmer captures evacuation as Carr Fire grows
  • 6 years ago
The Carr Fire “raged through several Northern California communities, killing two firefighters and destroying dozens of homes after thousands of terrified residents fled in miles-long traffic jams,” The Associated Press reported on July 27.

Cal Fire said the fire has grown to 44,450 acres, according to Wildfire Today.

In the video, two young women are seen evacuating their apartment in Redding on July 26 as smoke fills the skies.

“It’s really time to get out now,” the filmer says.

Before leaving, the filmer takes one last look at the smoke in the sky and says, “Say a prayer for Redding. We’re out.”

The filmer told Newsflare that she and her friend evacuated and are both safe.

“As of this morning, our apartment was still standing, but things are now burning less than a mile away on the westside,” she told Newsflare.
