No escape from the sweating summer _ 072718

Good morning. Today is Jungbok, the middle of the hottest part of summer, and temperatures show no sign of easing up.

The southeast has seen temperatures near 40 degrees Celsius while the rest of the country has also had highs in the mid to upper thirties.

Most parts of the country are waking up to very warm overnight lows, Seoul kicking off at 27 degrees Celsius, other regions woke up to lows of between 25 and 28 degrees.

It will be hotter in Seoul with an expected high of 35 degrees Celsius, Daegu and Gyeongju will continue to have sweltering temperatures at 37 degrees, Gwangju at 36 degrees. For a heads up, the full moon will turn blood red tonight, as the longest total lunar eclipse of the century takes place. I will have more on that in our later news cast.

Temperatures will remain very hot over the weekend with highs in the mid thirties.
The 12th typhoon of the season, Typhoon Jongdari, is losing strength and the typhoon could change course... so it's very likely it won't have much impact on the Korean peninsula.

That's Korea for you and here's the international weather for viewers around the world.
