Brett Kavanaugh Is a Historically Unpopular SCOTUS Nominee Donald Trump’s new nominee to the Supreme Court is one of the most unpopular nominees in recent history. A Fox News poll conducted July 9 to 11 says 38 percent of registered voters want Brett Kavanaugh confirmed. 32 percent say they would vote against him, giving Kavanaugh a +6 “net confirmation rating." Only Harriet Miers, whose appointment to the Supreme Court by George W. Bush was later withdrawn, fared worse with a +5. A Pew Research Center poll conducted this month says 41 percent of adults want Kavanaugh to be confirmed, against 36 percent who say no. His +5 net confirmation rating in this poll is the lowest of the past eight nominees, beginning with
John Roberts and including Miers.
