Hello, I'm Michelle Park here with the latest weather update. It's as if the peninsula is on a grill. As of today, practically all regions have been upgraded from heat advisories to heat warnings except for some coastal and mountainous regions. Under this heat, more than 600 people have already reported heat-related illnesses. So, try to avoid going outside during the peak hours and drink plenty of water even if you are not thirsty.
Due to the tropical nights and the heatwave during the day, the heat just builds up,... creating a heat dome over the country. We are looking ahead to hotter daytime highs tomorrow,... and Beijing and Tokyo are having a similar hot weather.
Daegu and Jeju, are experiencing tropical nights as the lowest temperatures are 25 degrees Celsius. Seoul begins the morning at 24 degrees.
By the time the sun is at its highest, Seoul will peak at 34, Gwangju 36, and Daegu at 37 degrees.
It's too early to say we are at the peak of summer because by next week Seoul's mercury will peak even higher.
