President Moon builds on 'New Southern Policy' during trip to India and Singapore

President Moon Jae-in returned from his trip to India and Singapore last week. During his visit he promoted his vision for cooperation with the two Asian nations, building on what he calls his 'New Southern Policy.' Before we delve deeper into the subject, let's take a look at some of what he said during his visits.
"I intend to elevate South Korea's ties with India to the same level as those we have with the four major powers surrounding the Korean Peninsula.
Reflecting that commitment is the New Southern Policy. Going beyond mere economic cooperation, it is aimed at creating a peace-loving, people-centered community where all the people prosper together. I have defined this community by “the Three Ps”: People, Prosperity and Peace.
The New Southern Policy is in line with what the Indian Prime Minister is pushing for, the Act East Policy. The completion of these two policies will be marked by prosperity in all of Asia."

The New Southern Policy aims at building a future partnership for people, prosperity and peace in cooperation with Singapore and other Southeast Asian countries.
