North Korea remains on highest tier of U.S. list of worst human trafficking nations
  • 6 years ago
For the sixteenth year in a row,... the United States has kept North Korea on its list of countries with the worst records on human trafficking.
The State Department report put North Korea in Tier-3 of its Watch List in this year's Trafficking in Person's report.
Tier-3 is the worst rank of the list.
Such a bad ranking can trigger American sanctions limiting access to U.S. and international foreign assistance.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said an "untold number of North Koreans are subject to forced labor overseas by their own government."
Myanmar was added to Tier-3 for the first time,... with the U.S. accusing it of using child soldiers.
