The Syrian Army has boosted its week-long assault on rebel-held areas in the country's southern province of Deraa with a series of airstrikes.
State media reported that the army intensified its offensive on Tuesday to clear the way for an operation to take a road linking the divided city with the nearby Jordanian border.
State TV said the operation was aimed at cutting supply lines between eastern Daraa and rebel-held parts of the provincial capital.
The UN estimates some 50 thousand residents have fled the area over the past week, many of them heading to Jordan.
