S. Korean army sending special warfare unit on rotation to UAE

The army held a ceremony to send off a special warfare team to the United Arab Emirates where they'll replace another group of soldiers serving there.
Hundreds attended the event,... including Army Chief of Staff, General Kim Yong-woo,... plus the hundred-25 soldiers deployed to the Akh Unit,... and their family members.
"Akh" means brother in Arabic.
South Korea has been sending special forces to the UAE since 2011,... as a means of enhancing bilateral military cooperation.
During the ceremony,... the troops showcased Seoul's new so-called "warrior platform," comprised of 18 types of the latest combat supplies and gear,... including new uniform, bulletproof helmet and vest, along with personal arms.
The army plans to equip soldiers serving domestically with this latest tech as well,... starting with some battalions later this year.
