Dokdo defense exercise will take place for two days starting Monday

South Korea's Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and the Coast Guard will stage regular maritime drills from today.... with the aim of better safeguarding the country's easternmost islets of Dokdo.
The two-day defense drill will mobilize six warships,... including a 32-hundred ton destroyer,... and seven aircraft.
The South Korean military first launched the Dokdo drills in 1986.
Since 2003,.. it has conducted the drills twice a year to strengthen its ability to keep foreign invaders at bay.
The drills come amid Japan's persistent false territorial claims to the East Sea islets.
