Lava in Hawaii Destroys Hundreds of Homes Overnight Kilauea volcano on Hawaii’s Big Island continues to erupt on Tuesday, with Monday night serving as the most destructive night so far. We don’t have an estimate yet, but safe to say that hundreds of homes were lost in Kapoho Beach Lots and Vacationland last night. According to the Associated Press, no injuries have been reported yet because the homes were already evacuated. The Kapoho Bay area was known more as a vacation spot but many of the permanent residents had their houses destroyed as well. Kilauea continues to ramp up in activity, with the U.S. Geological Survey reporting over 9,000 earthquakes in the past month.
