South Korea marks World Environment Day

Today -- June 5th -- is World Environment Day, designated by the United Nations back in 1972.... to raise awareness about protecting the environment.
South Korea, too, observes this day nationwide.
The Ministry of Environment will hold an event this afternoon in Seoul, with Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon among the attendees.
Lee will commend selected companies, civic groups, and educational institutions for their outstanding efforts in protecting the environment.
The ceremony will mainly focus on plastic pollution…which is the main theme of this year's World Environment Day.
