Wrecked Cars, Mud and Debris Clog Ellicott City's Main Street Following Devastating Flash Floods

Emergency services began a clean-up operation in Ellicott City on Monday, May 28, after flash floods ripped through the Maryland City on Sunday.These videos of the flood aftermath were captured by the Howard County Police Department. The first clip shows the extent of the flooding damage in Main Street, where overturned cars and debris lined the road. The second clip also shows the damage in Main Street filmed from above.A flash flood emergency was issued for the city and multiple water rescues were reported on May 27, the National Weather Service said. Nearly an hour after the first alert was issued, officials said the water was receding, but warned people to stay away from the area.Similar flash flooding devastated the city’s downtown area in August 2016.
