Parties still poles apart on voting for gov't-proposed constitutional reform bill
  • 6 years ago
The National Assembly has until today to vote on the constitutional reform bill proposed by President Moon Jae-in in March,... but the rival parties are still having trouble finding common ground.
The ruling Democratic Party is urging the opposition parties to attend Thursday's plenary session to review and vote on the motion.
However,.. the opposition parties called on President Moon to withdraw the bill, adding they will boycott the session.
The proposed constitutional reform entails changing the current five-year presidency to four-years and allowing the incumbent to seek re-election.
If there's no vote today,... the bill will become null and void.
