Cincinnati Zoo Introduces New American Burying Beetle

A new creature has emerged at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens – an American burying beetle.A video shared on the zoo’s Facebook page on May 21 shows the beetle making its way out from underground. “After spending 2 months underground developing into an adult these beetles emerge to produce the next generation,” the post stated.The beetle will be introduced into a nature preserve in June as a way to reintroduce the species into its natural habitat. According to the zoo’s website, the species is critically endangered. As of writing, the video has over 38,000 views and over 700 reactions on Facebook.
