President Trump on Thursday said North Korea wouldl get "protections" if there's a denuclearization deal.

President Trump on Thursday said that North Korea would get strong "protections" if there's a denuclearization deal.
"I think we'll actually have a good relationship, assuming we have the meeting, and assuming something comes of it. And he'll get protections that will be very strong," Trump told reporters while discussing his expected meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on June 12 in Singapore.
In the wake of reports that North Korea has threatened to withdraw from the summit over the recent U.S.-South Korea military drills, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Trump is still prepared to meet with Kim.
"The president is prepared, and we'll be ready to meet. We're continuing to move forward with the preparations at this point, and if the North Koreans want to meet, will be there," Sanders told reporters at a press briefing.
Trump also weighed in on North Korea's threat to cancel the meeting.
"We'll see what happens. If the meeting happens, it happens," he stated. "If it doesn't, we go on to the next step."
