South Koreans' overseas card spending hits new high in the first quarter

Overseas card spending by Koreans hit a record high in the first quarter of this year... on the back of soaring outbound tourists.
According to the nation's central bank, purchases made on credit and debit cards topped five billion U.S. dollars, during the January to March period.
The figure represents an 11-point-four percent rise on-quarter,... and a 26-percent increase from the same period last year.
Around 7-point-4 million Koreans travelled abroad during Q1,... up more than eight percent on-quarter, thanks to the winter vacation season and the Lunar New Year holiday.
However durign the same period, Card spending by foreigners visiting the nation,... edged down 1 percent, to two billion dollars.
