Expert's take on Trump's decision to scrap Iran nuclear deal

Let's get an expert's take on President Trump's decision to pull the plug on the Iran nuclear deal and its implications for the current push for diplomacy with North Korea.
Joining us on Skype is Joshua H. Pollack, a Senior Research Associate at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies.
He has served as a consultant to the U.S. government, specializing in issues related to weapons of mass destruction.
He's also a regular contributor to the North Korea-monitoring website 38 North.

I'd like to start by getting your reaction to Trump's decision to remove the United States from the Iran nuclear deal.

President Trump's National Security Advisor John Bolton says canceling the Iran Deal is a message to North Korea. You'd imagine the North Koreans were already anticipating this, but how do you think this decision will impact what appears to be an impending denuclearization deal with Pyongyang?

President Trump also mentioned that his Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is in the North Korean capital for the second time. Officially he's there to lay the groundwork for the North Korea-U.S. summit, but there's also the question of the three U.S. detainees. What kind of developments do you expect to see from this trip?

Thanks for you insights. That was Joshua Pollack, a Senior Research Associate at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, with his take on President Trump's withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal and the possible blowback it might have on efforts to denuclearize North Korea.
