As promised I'm joined by Kim Mok-yeon, who put that report together for us. Hello, Mok-yeon. It's great to have you in the studio again.

Hi, Mark, thank you for having me.

So like you explained in your report, the leaders of the two Koreas made a groundbreaking announcement,..agreeing to work to end their 65 year ceasefire.
The news shocked many, especially the public here in South Korea.
How did citizens react to the breakthrough?

Well, according to the results of a recent survey conducted by the Korea Society Opinion Institute, the overwhelming majority of South Koreans are happy about it.
The results show nine out of ten people agree on the need to declare an end to the armistice, and to move towards an era of peace.
The survey, held on more than 1,000 people just a day after the inter-Korean summit, showed that.. nearly 68 percent of the respondents strongly agreed with the decision, followed by 23 percent who agreed, bringing the percentage of supporters to more than 90 percent.
When asked about their opinion on the Panmunjom Declaration, nearly 74 percent said the declaration will settle the cold war between the two Koreas, as opposed to around a fifth who said the declaration merely stands as a show of disguised peace.
