U.S. extends tariff exemptions for EU, other allies
  • 6 years ago
The United States is delaying steel and aluminum tariffs for its key allies from May 1st to June 1st so they can hold further talks.
The White House says it has reached agreements in principle with Argentina, Australia and Brazil concerning the tariffs and is extending talks with the European Union, Canada, and Mexico.
The Trump administration also granted permanent tariff exemptions for South Korea.
South Korea earned its permanent exemption by agreeing to quotas that will cut its steel exports by about 30 percent from its average annual shipments to the U.S. bewteen 2015 and 2017...as part of the amendment to the South Korea-U.S. free trade deal.
