Trump: 'There's Been Nobody Tougher On Russia Than President Donald Trump'

President Trump said on Wednesday that "there's been nobody tougher on Russia than President Donald Trump."

At a Wednesday press conference with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan, President Trump discussed his administration's actions against Russia.
There has been nobody tougher on Russia than President Donald Trump. Between building up the military, between creating tremendous vast amounts of oil, we raised billions and billions of dollars extra in NATO," Trump told reporters. "There has been nobody tougher than me. With the media, no matter what I did, it's never tough enough because that's their narrative. But Russia will tell you there has been nobody tougher than Donald Trump."
"With all of that said, if we can get along with China and if we can get along with Russia...and other nations, that's a good thing, not a bad thing," Trump added.
The president's remarks come in the wake of his decision to hold off on new sanctions against Russia.

"Trump rejected, for now at least, a fresh round of sanctions set to be imposed against Russia on Monday, a course change that underscored the schism between the president and his national security team," the New York Times reported.
However, during Wednesday's press event, Trump left the door open for additional sanctions.
"We'll do sanctions as soon as they very much deserve it," Trump said.
