Trump Says He's Been 'Far Tougher' On Russia Than Obama And Other US Presidents

President Trump tweeted Saturday he's been "far tougher" on Russian than former President Obama.

President Trump has claimed to be "far tougher on Russia" than his Oval Office predecessors.
"I have been FAR tougher on Russia than Obama, Bush or Clinton," he tweeted Saturday. "Maybe tougher than any other President. At the same time, & as I have often said, getting along with Russia is a good thing, not a bad thing. I fully expect that someday we will have good relations with Russia again!"
The tweet came a day after the New York Times reported that the FBI began investigating Trump's potential alignment with Russia after former FBI director James Comey's controversial firing.
"In the days after President Trump fired James B. Comey as F.B.I. director, law enforcement officials became so concerned by the president's behavior that they began investigating whether he had been working on behalf of Russia against American interests, according to former law enforcement officials and others familiar with the investigation," the Times noted.
The probe is said to have eventually been transferred to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russia's election meddling though the current status is unknown.
Trump was quick to blast the allegations, tweeting: "Wow, just learned in the Failing New York Times that the corrupt former leaders of the FBI, almost all fired or forced to leave the agency for some very bad reasons, opened up an investigation on me, for no reason & with no proof, after I fired Lyin' James Comey, a total sleaze!"
