Mozilla releases tool to help stop Facebook from tracking you

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIFORNIA — Mozilla has released a Firefox tool called Facebook Container to stop the social networking site from tracking online habits outside Facebook’s own site.
The extension isolates a user’s Facebook identity into a separate browser tab making it harder for the site to track the user’s activity on other websites using third-party cookies, according to a Mozilla blog post.
After installing the extension it will delete the user’s Facebook cookies and log the user out of Facebook.
The next time the user logs in, Facebook will open in a new blue-colored browser tab, or container tab.
When using Facebook through the Mozilla extension, if the user clicks on a non-Facebook link or goes to a non-Facebook website in the URL bar, these pages load outside of the container.
Clicking Facebook Share buttons on other browser tabs will load them within the Facebook Container.
Mozilla warns that if people used their Facebook accounts to create an account or as logins to other apps, they may not be able to log in when using the extension.
