However, the foundation now says that it needs to review its climate goals and consider how it will go carbon-neutral if it also allows crypto transactions. This move was likely triggered by backlash from Mozilla founders who feel that cryptocurrencies do not have a place in the Mozilla business plan. Those objections are founded on interesting facts, including the level of energy needed to mine Bitcoin, which is as much as countries like the Ukraine and Norway use every year. Mozilla is not the only company to change its mind about alternative currency, with Tesla ($TSLA@US) no longer accepting cryptocurrency as of 2021.
