Ford recalls 1.38 million cars for detachable steering wheels

DETROIT — Ford Motor Co. announced on Wednesday it is recalling 1.38 million vehicles in North America for possible loose steering wheel bolts.
The defect has connected to at least two accidents and one potential injury, according to Ford.
The automaker said the recall includes 2014 through 2018 Ford Fusion cars and Lincoln MKZ vehicles built at plants in Michigan and Mexico, according to Reuters.
Car dealers will replace the steering wheel bolt with a longer bolt.
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began a preliminary investigation in October into 841,000 Ford cars over detachable steering wheels while vehicles were in motion.
The latest recall affects 1.3 million cars in the U.S., around 62,000 in Canada and about 14,000 in Mexico, according to USA Today.
